There is debate on what this waterfall is actually called. Lion Slide Falls or Hatchet Creek Falls. I decided to go with Lion Slide because it sounds way cooler than the other. You decide.

Earlier this summer we explored a few waterfalls that are conveniently also swimming holes. This particular one has been on the list for awhile now so we decided to head up one weekend.

Lion Slide Falls is located about 40 miles east of Redding, California via Route 299. Take a left onto Big Bend Rd and then you will park on the right hand side right before the bridge. You will see an opening where you can park. Cant miss it. Once you park, There will be a trail that runs along the right side of the creek. Follow this path for about 5-10 mins or about 700 feet and you will be welcomed with a beautiful waterfall and a tree that allows you to climb up and jump off of. NOTE: Please check water depth before cliff jumping or jumping off the tree into the water.

Bring a towel, sun screen, a floaty, and arrive early to beat the crowd. We arrived around 8-9 am and had it to ourselves for an hour or so before the flood or people started to roll in.

I would like to thank my friend Steven for sending it multiple times so I could get some images. Thanks dude!
