Located 40 miles east of Chico, California. Rock creek offers multiple swimming holes with a natural water slide. This spot is perfect for a nice day trip to a relatively secluded swimming hole. If you continue to explore deeper into the creek you'll be rewarded with more spots to swim and cascading falls.
To get here from Chico, take the feather river highway (route 70) until just before the rock creek powerhouse. If you're using Google maps, you'll see it on the maps. Take a left after the bridge onto a gravel road and park alongside the road. The swimming hole with the slide is about 3/4 a mile up the creek.
Start along the right side of the creek where there's a vague trail. Continue along that until it fades away and then it's time to scramble your way over huge boulders And parts of the creek. Yes, you will have to get wet and go through the creek to proceed further until you are agile monkey like. You can't miss the water slide once you arrive. Set up camp and enjoy your time jumping off the small boulders, sunbathing or going down the water slide
No dogs. I brought my dog but it was a pain in the Booty due to how high some of the boulders were so there were points we can to lift her up onto it.
Bring some rope. If you want to safely go down the water slide, you may need to set up a rope to pull yourself up to get to the top. It's not easy without it.
Remember to what you pack in, pack it out. Keep it clean.
During our time here, we saw a couple other people who were here too so it may get crowded but still. Worth it. Just don't expect to have it to yourselves unless it's a weekday. Because, well... people work those days. If you want to check out more photos of my adventures. Go give me a follow on Instagram
